Overview
Course Content:
This module aims to acquaint students with the practices associated with contemporary
Digital Media Production. Students will be presented with 2 options: Media Production or
Project Management and will be expected to engage in a small group project to select
and experiment with digital form and content.The primary deliverable will be to create a Multi-Media website and to populate this site
with a variety of media: short videos, infographics, advertising, interactive displays or
artistic expressions.By analysing and formulating criticisms of current digital media products- for the web,
mobile phones, DVD?s, title sequences for films, CD-ROM content, games- the students
will understand the context and relationship that needs to exist for each type of
?content?.They will learn the different techniques by which digital imagery can be incorporated into
websites, on CD?s, exhibitions, live performance productions, journalism and new
emerging technologies. There will be an exploration of the roles of the creative director,
the production manager, and of course the audience.Practical projects by the students will appreciate the issues of how media and society are
integrally connected to the technical aspects of digital media design and production.Summary of autumn semester content:
