The Early Modern period (c. 1500-1700) was a time of explosive cultural energy. This module will explore the work of Marlowe, Shakespeare and Webster alongside other figures who were just as important in their own time but have now been forgotten or marginalised. We will explore the period chronologically, encountering a range of different genres, including the Elizabethan sonnet, romantic comedy, Jacobean revenge tragedy and women?s closet drama.
