The rationale of this module is to evaluate the question: who was this man Jesus of Nazareth? Who was he, what did he do, and what happened to him in the course of his life? One means of answering these questions is to pose another, namely, to what extent is the Jesus of the gospels and the creeds of the early church the same Jesus reconstructed from historical sources? This is the methodology that will be adopted in this module. The emphasis will be on the historical Jesus in his historical context.
