Overview
Assessment: essay (2000 words) [50%], coursework portfolio [50%]
This module examines the production, reception and social function of comic drama, theatre and performance through critical interrogation of a range of texts, performances and theoretical materials in their historical, social and cultural contexts. Combining study of a core genre in the dramatic and critical canon with an interrogation of key problematics in contemporary performance and representation, students will engage with a significant body of theoretical materials, a representative range of dramatic literature and theatrical contexts and key examples of comic performance practice.
