Overview
This module introduces students to the history of modern Latin America through the study of the major revolutions in that region during the 19th and 20th centuries. Through discussion of the term ?revolution? and the study of different case studies (including Mexico, Cuba and Nicaragua), students engage with academic debates about the nature of revolution and related concepts, such as reform and counter-revolution. The course incorporates political, military and social history, through the study of class conflict, guerrilla warfare and the roles of women and different racial and ethnic groups in Latin American revolutions.
