Overview
Assessment: critical evaluation (1500 words) [40%], essay (2500 words) [60%]
This module focuses on the relationship of gender to representation and practice in cinema and television, from classical Hollywood to the present day. It examines the diversity of contemporary feminist theory and the rise of ?third wave feminism?, its significance for the analysis of film and television, and the range of work carried out by women film and television makers. Case studies may include such texts as Go Fish; Precious; Sex and the City and the work of director Kathryn Bigelow.
