Overview
Assessment: essay (2500 words) [60%], short (10 min.) presentation [40%] [both components to be passed]
This module will study the practice and theory of ?world? dance to examine questions of tradition, travel, ritual, gender, and the relationship between dance and music practice. By participating in styles from all around the world, the module will examine what it means to embody and observe the cultural practices of an ?other.? The module may study forms such as Kathak, rumba, Morris dancing, Ghanaian dance, and others.
