Human Anatomy & Physiology

What does this course cover?
This module will develop your knowledge and skills in the area of human anatomy and physiology. Hands-on learning activities will facilitate better understanding of the skeleton and the cardiovascular system. Computer-assisted learning will enable you to learn using virtual 3D representations taken from the Visible Human data set.

Students on this module will benefit from the expertise of academic staff in the Faculty of Life Sciences & Medicine, and from the university’s connections to cutting-edge research and other key scientific institutions in London.

The module will provide the students with an understanding of the basic human anatomy and physiology. The students will learn the coupling of structure with function through a series of lectures, tutorials and practicals.

The Anatomy & Physiology Online software will allow self-assessment in preparation for the final module examination. There will be 2 sessions in the dissection room to facilitate learning about the skeleton and the cardiovascular system.

What will I achieve?
By the end of the module, you should have:

• Demonstrated basic anatomical knowledge of the human being with particular detail in the musculoskeletal, nervous, endocrine, cardiovascular, and respiratory systems.
• Gained an understanding of systems physiology with particular detail in muscular, nervous, endocrine, cardiovascular, and respiratory systems.
