Prerequisite: ECN206 ECN111Topics include balance of payments; definitions; international consumption smoothing; nominal and real exchange rates; interest rate parity; elasticity approach to the trade balance; macroeconomic policy in an open economy; Exchange rate determination under flexible and sticky price and exogenous and endogenous expectations; Exchange rate regimes and speculative attacks; optimal currency areas. Prerequisite: ECN106.
