The emphasis will be on careful description of structural and social aspects of language variation in the UK. Students will be encouraged to explore language use in their own environment. The importance of basic concepts in linguistic description will be emphasised, as well as issues concerning language ideologies, the media, and education.Assessment: 100.0% CourseworkLevel: 4
