Prerequisite: LIN400/ LIN4200This course will provide an introduction to the field of bilingualism and multilingualism from a linguistic, psycholinguistic and sociolinguistic perspective. Topics to be covered include the definition of bilingualism and multilingualism and types of language contact, code-switching, bilingual and multilingual education and policy, as well as language development in individuals who are proficient in more than one language, and the cognitive effects of speaking more than one language.
