  • Prerequisites

    To take this course, students should have an intermediate level in French (A2- to B1+). An initial 1h30
    placement test evaluates students' linguistic skills including grammar, vocabulary, reading, writing
    and listening. A 10-minute interview with a member of the ICL-Clarife (center of languages of
    the host university) assesses speaking ability. Following the placement test, the numbers of
    level groups are determined depending on total number of students, and are based on the Common
    European Framework of Reference for Languages (more information on www.coe.int).
    If the placement test assesses that the student does not have the required level in French, they will be
    oriented towards another ESP course.

    Content:
    -Daily life vocabulary and most frequent slang words
    -Idiomatic expressions
    -Discussing about different topics
    -Expressing your opinion, judgment, agreement or disagreement
    -Cultural and society facts about France using authentic documents

    Learning Outcomes:
    At the end of the course, the students should be capable of:
    -being more confident when speaking in various situations
    -becoming more spontaneous, more precise and effective
    -adapting to different situations as well as to the interlocutor
