    OBJECTIVES:
    1st semester
    ? To study the logical aspects of discourse in written texts.
    ? To learn how to summarize and comment a text
    ? To build an argumentative text (comment and essay)

    2nd semester
    ? To spot the different argumentative types of speech
    ? Progressive work on essays: discuss, introduce, conclude

    PROGRAM:
    Methodology of the textual/lexical analysis
    ? Help with the writing: textual grammar
    ? Rhetorical style of a word, sentence or paragraph
    ? Choice of authentic texts: excerpts of contemporary sociological excerpts
    ? Contemporary problematic

    ACTVITIES
    (IN CLASS)
    ? Group work in order to analyze and spot the markers of argumentation
    ? An oral presentation to do on the textual analysis of a text
    (AT HOME)
    ? Personal work on weekly writing:
    ? 1st semester: Summaries, commentaries, rewriting exercises
    ? 2nd semester: Summaries, commentaries, essays

    GRADING:
    ? Weekly work (Summaries, commentaries, rewriting exercises, essays): 60%
    ? Class participation: intellectual investment and attendance: 10%
    ? Oral presentation on a text analysis: 30%
