Overview
DESCRIPTION:
Concepts and methods ofplanning, designing and directingaudiovisual projects. Visualization and sequencing. Lighting and colour techniques. Pictorial composition and vectors. Depth perspective and volume. Controlling exposure and camera angles.RATIONALE:
In this course students complete a video projectwhile exploring various approaches toaudiovisual communication.Students will apply aesthetic and pictorial principles to film, and analyze and evaluate their productions.LEARNING OUTCOMES:
As a result of taking this course, the student should be able to:
1. Create a video project that displays a variety of aesthetic and directing techniques.
2. Demonstrate detailedknowledge of the application ofaesthetic elements that help translate an idea into a visual message.
3. Critically evaluate the aesthetic parameters of a project and how they are used to effectively clarify, intensify and interpret visual messages.
4. Analyze and evaluate directing and aesthetic techniques from a variety of visual samples.
5. Recognize and applysuitablepictorial principlesofvisual communication to meet production objectives.METHOD OF TEACHING AND LEARNING:
In congruence with the teaching and learning strategy of the college, the following tools are used:
- Classes consist of lectures, class discussions, video presentations, and camera demonstrations.
- Office Hours: Students are encouraged to make full use of the office hours of their instructor, where they can ask questions and go over lecture material.
- Use of a Blackboard site where instructors post lecture notes, assignment instructions, announcements, as well as additional recourses.
