Course Level Recommendations

  • ISA offers course level recommendations for the courses listed below. Please note that the course level recommendations are based on The American College of Greece's course level classifications of a 4, 5, or 6 level, which correspond with the three-year bachelor's degree cycle. Courses classified as level 5 and 6 are recommended as upper division. Non Open University validated courses at the 1000 and 2000-levels are designed as lower-division courses and 3000 and 4000-level Non Open University validated courses are designed as upper-division courses. Please note that 3000 and 4000-level courses are open to students who have completed introductory courses in the same discipline. These ISA recommendations are intended to facilitate the determination of course equivalencies by advisors and credential evaluators at participants' U.S. home institutions.

Language Placement

  • Enrollment in Greek language courses is determined by the results of a language placement exam administered by the American College of Greece. Please note that your performance on the placement exam may not reflect the number of semesters of language instruction you’ve already completed at your home university.
  • If you are trying to place into any level of language beyond true beginning, it is recommended that you prepare for the language placement exam by reviewing previous coursework.
