Overview
Module Objective: To introduce how the brain and neurotransmitters influence various aspects of behaviour. To examine modern neuroscientific research techniques including the theory and methods of psychophysiological recording. To examine illnesses associated with degeneration of the brain and neurons.
Module Content: The biological basis of rudimentary and complex issues such as stress, sleep, learning and memory. The autonomic nervous system. The measurement of autonomic arousal. Neurodegenerative diseases such as Alzheimer's and Parkinson's disease. Neurotransmitters, chemistry and receptor type. Modern neuroscientific techniques.
