Theoretical perspectives which inform contemporary sociological thinking, including: structural functionalism, symbolic interactionism and phenomenology, rational choice theory, structuralism and post-structuralism, postmodernism. Themes such as ''modernity'', ''agency and structure'', ''the contested nature of the discipline of sociology''.
