Overview
Probability review. Discrete random variables, mean and variance. Binomial and Poisson. Continuous random variables, exponential distribution. Normal distribution. Central limit theorem. Normal approximations. Confidence intervals and hypothesis testing: one and two samples, paired samples, proportions. Chi-square tests. Correlation and regression. Inference for slope. Computation using statistical software.
Learning Outcomes:
On successful completion of the module, students should be able to:
-Calculate probabilities for outcomes of random variables with the standard distributions.
-Use Normal approximations.
-Test statistical hypotheses
-Calculate and interpret confidence intervals.
-Calculate and explain correlation.
-Calculate, interpret and perform inference using the regression line.Teaching & Learning methods:
