Overview
A general outline of the history of the period and an introduction to some of the core themes in the political, social, economic and cultural history of the period. Field trip to a historic house and museum.
Learning Outcomes:
On successful completion of the module, students should be able to:
·Identify and explore core themes in modern Irish history
·Explain key terms and definitions that impact on modern Irish historiography
·Develop an appreciation for the broader range of extant sources for the period, especially the surviving built landscape
·Assume responsibility for self and group learning through reading a broad range of selected works and contributing knowledge to group discussionsTeaching & Learning methods:
