Overview
In this module we take four key sociological concepts: social class, gender, race and ethnicity and examine (1) their meaning within sociological literature and (2) their meaningfulness as applied to lived human experience.
Learning Outcomes:
On successful completion of the module, students should be able to:
-Detail the concepts and methods employed by sociologists
-Understand the sociological perspective on the link between individuals and society
-Evaluate arguments advanced by specific sociologists regarding society and social behaviour
-Assess the contribution of sociology to understanding the key features of historical and contemporary societiesTeaching & Learning methods:
