Overview
Module Content: The cognitive approach. Perception, memory, thinking, reasoning and problem solving. Self and social identity. Group behaviour. Social cognition. Social conformity. Stereotyping, prejudice and attitudes. The formation of interpersonal affiliations.
Module Objective: To introduce key concepts in cognitive and social psychology.
Learning Outcomes:
On successful completion of the module, students should be able to:
-Provide a detailed overview of some of the key experiments in a specified area of cognitive psychology;
-Compare and contrast different theoretical positions within cognitive psychology;
-Identify and differentiate between prominent social psychological theories;
