Overview
Module Objective:
To introduce students to inverses and determinants of n x n ? matrices, Vector spaces, Eigenvectors and eigenvalues.Inverse and determinants of n x n - matrices; eigenvalues and eigenvectors; vector spaces; basis and dimension; linear maps; rank and nullity. Computation using mathematical computing software.
Learnig Outcomes:
On successful completion of the module, students should be able to:
-Solve systems of linear equations.
-Calculate the inverse and determinant of an n x n matrix and understand their meaning.
-Obtain the eigenvalues and eigenvectors of an n x n matrix.
-Find a basis and the dimension of a vector space.
-State and prove basic results regarding vector spaces and subspaces.
-Define the terms rank and nullity and understand their meaning.
-Apply basic results regarding linear transformations.
-Use the methods from the course to solve problems. State definitions and theorems covered in the course.Teaching & Learning Methods:
