Overview
As an examination of the lives of women in Greece and Rome, this module will draw on both textual evidence and material culture to explore female life experiences in the ancient world. The importance of physical environment and cultural context for the study of women in Antiquity will be emphasized, and the module will make use of new approaches in the areas of feminism and gender studies which have informed recent research in this expanding area of classical scholarship.
