  • Overview

    This module gives an overview of the Roman Empire from its beginnings until the reign of Constantine. Within this vast expanse of space and time we will focus on three historical moments: Augustus and the empire?s beginning, Roman Britain as an example of life in the provinces, and finally, Constantine?s transformation of the Roman world into a Christian one divided between East and West. Students will also be introduced to the study of primary historical sources and how historians use them to construct a picture of the past.
