Overview
Ageism, concepts and theories of ageing, physiological social and psychological changes associated with generic ageing and the older person with an intellectual disability. Nursing care and management of support for the older person with an intellectual disability. Person centred planning and the concept of choice and quality of life in older adulthood. Nursing process applied to the older person with an intellectual disability associated with age related illness. Living arrangements and service provision for the older person with an intellectual disability. The following concepts related to the older person with an intellectual disability; retirement, recreational and leisure pursuits, spiritual care, pastoral care and palliative care. Applied pharmacology.
Clinical Skills Syllabus: Central Nervous System (CNS) examination Facilitative communication skills: reality orientation, reminiscence and art therapy Assisting an older person with mobility and engagement in activities of living Environmental comfort and last offices
