Overview
An examination of personal and small group communication with particular emphasis on methods of perceiving information and transmitting messages, gender bias in communication, nonverbal behavior, and methods of communicating ideas and emotions. Students will learn about group decision-making and the forces that influence group behavior. There will be a review of inter-personal communicate methods and an introduction to effective communication skills. Students will participate in small and large group discussions and problem-solving situations as they practice the fundamentals of listening skills, interviewing skills, verbal and non-verbal communication, and public speaking.
