Overview
This course teaches students basic techniques of sound recording, editing, and mixing for film.
Students will learn to correctly record location sound in a variety of situations, set-up and edit 149 dual-system projects, perform basic dialogue, sound effect, and ambient sound editing, as well as mixing and exporting the final mix for a film.
By mastering these techniques students will also gain an understanding of how sound works, microphones and recording techniques, as well as an understanding of the role that sound plays in cinema and how it affects storytelling and narration, point-of-view, emphasis and focus, and narrative focalization.
