The module focuses on the impact of European economic penetration, political interference and Christianmissionary enterprise upon African societies during the nineteenth century, and the ways in which theseinteracted with indigenous process of social and political change, with a view to explaining the ultimateestablishment of European colonial rule over most of the continent.Not available to students who have taken HIS99E
