Overview
This module will provide an introduction to techniques of film analysis, focusing on aspects such as genre, narrative, and thematic structure, as well as the relationship between film and social context. Students will also learn to analyse individual scenes and sequences, looking at compositional elements such as editing, soundtrack, lighting, and camera angles. Five films will be studied from a diversity of continents.
