Overview
Brief Description
The concept of tourism science stems from the need to approach tourism beyond simple definitions that do not clarify the complexity of the phenomenon. To achieve this, it is necessary to adopt an interdisciplinary perspective and integrate multiple views from academia, so that a comprehensive understanding of the tourism phenomenon can be generated.
Through this course, students will acquire the foundations for a transversal vision of tourism. This vision is indispensable today for future professionals and companies in a sector that increasingly leans towards responsibility and sustainability in a changing environment.
Additionally, the knowledge acquired in this course is fundamental for those aiming to work in academic research and teaching in tourism.
Ultimately, the course is designed as an instrument for discussion and transformation of the most traditional and static views of tourism, aligned with the experience and research work carried out at the CETT-UB Campus in the fields of tourism policy and governance, sustainability and SDGs, Smart Tourism, digitalization, marketing, ethics, business models, and the new economy.
