Academic Information
Course Selection
Students will take courses in English alongside Spanish and international students enrolled in degree programs at the University of Salamanca. You will enroll in 4-5 classes. You are required to take one Spanish Language Course. You then have the option of taking your remaining 3-4 courses with locals taught in English or Spanish courses with other international students.
Language Placement Exam
- Enrollment in Spanish courses is determined by the results of a language placement exam administered by the Universidad de Salamanca. Your performance on the placement exam may not reflect the number of semesters of language instruction you've already completed at your home university.
Course Credit & Transcript Information
- Transfer credit is ultimately determined by the student's home university.
- The transcripts from the Universidad de Salamanca will reflect the ECTS credit values indicated below, except for the required Spanish Language course which will be reflected in contact hours.
- Two transcripts will be issued, one with contact hours for the Spanish language courses with international students and other with ECTS credits for the courses with locals.
- The contact hours for each course with locals will not be reflected on the transcript but are listed below in order to help determine transfer credit. Please be in touch with your U.S. university regarding transfer credit for this program.

Housing
Living in ISA housing will give you the opportunity to experience aspects of the Spanish lifestyle that are inaccessible to the average visitor. Uncovering the uniqueness of your neighborhood and the surrounding areas will help you to feel right at home. No matter which type of housing you choose, you will have a short commute to class. Travel times to the various university buildings generally range between 15 and 40 minutes depending on housing and class locations. With an open and adaptable mind the experience of living in another culture can be highly rewarding.
We strive to match your housing preferences with our available accommodations. However, housing preference requests cannot be guaranteed.
