Overview
The fundamental goals addressed in this course will include: (I) Improving the knowledge at cellular, molecular and behavioral levels of the mechanisms which contribute to the processes of degeneration and regeneration of tissue in acquired, congenital and degenerative diseases including those associated with aging; (II) Concise review of current therapeutic strategies employed for regeneration, repair and/or replacement of the altered biological function in different diseases; (III) Show up the more innovative strategies and technologies based on the implementation of tissue engineering developed at pre-clinical stages which includes the use and application of stem cells, biocompatible matrices, or the total or partial organ transplantation, bio-engineering, prosthesis or combination of all; (IV) Overview on the regulatory aspects of the known "advances therapies" to understand how to move forward from the basic to the translational research from pre-clinical to clinical trial assays.
