  • Overview

    Intensive program where the student will go through all the simulation scenarios in the Virtual Hospital UCV, (initiation tour in simulation field). You will understand from the easiest to the most complex and advanced devices, as well as you will train technical and non-technical skills in different clinical scenarios.

    Training is offered in the following competencies: 

    • Hard skills such as: catheterization, vital signs monitoring, airway management training, life support, aseptic tasks, auscultation, abdominal examination, sensory exploration, oxygen therapy, ultrasound, mechanical ventilation, and obstetrics, among many others. All of them at basic, intermediate, and advanced level. 
    • Soft skills such as: clinical thinking, communication skills, role-playing, etc.

    This Simulation course aims primarily to fully equip the student in acquiring both technical and non-technical skills in clinical practice. 

    The specific goals are:

    • Development of learning skills in clinical practice with a high degree of autonomy.
    • Recognition of essential elements of the medical profession, including ethical and legal principles.
    • Establishment of diagnosis, prognosis and treatment in clinical safety conditions.
    • Identifying the most appropriate therapy for acute and chronic diseases.
    • Effective and clear communication.

    Program:

    Aimed at Students of the Degree in Medicine in the last years of training.

    1) Physiology and Monitorization: Checking vital signs: BP, HR, RR, Glycemia, Tª, Sat O2, / ECG / Clinical simulation cases.

    2) Exploration: Pulmonary auscultation and Cardiac auscultation / Ultrasound Basic: Equipment setting and scanning planes / Clinical simulation cases.

    3) Respiratory System: Oxygen therapy and Manual Ventilation: Supraglottic airway management / Clinical simulation cases. Non-Invasive Mechanical Ventilation / Invasive Mechanical Ventilation / Clinical simulation cases.

    4) Cardiovascular System: Reading and Interpretation of the EKG. Electrical therapies of arrhythmias. Fluid therapy / Clinical simulation cases.

    5) Infection control: PPE / Asepsis and Sepsis / Clinical simulation cases.

    6) Techniques: Intravenous and intraosseous access / Bandaging / Urinary catheterization and nasogastric tube insertion. Sutures / Respiratory and Cardiac Systems needle puncture / Clinical cases. Ultrasound: Ultrasound and Echo-guided access and needle puncture / Advanced Ultrasound in Male and Female patients / Clinical simulation cases.

    7) Gynecology and Obstetrics: Gynecological and obstetric clinical exploration / PROMPT Assisted delivery / Advanced simulator (Lucina) Labor / Clinical simulation cases.

    8) Pediatrics: Clinical examination of newborns and pediatric examination. The febrile child / Clinical simulation cases.

    9) Emergency: Basic & Advanced CPR (European Resuscitation Council) / Clinical simulation cases. Initial assessment adult and pediatric trauma patient / Neurological examination / Clinical simulation cases.

    10) Cross-sectional clinical cases: Cross-sectional clinical cases of all aforementioned areas.
