Overview
COURSE OBJECTIVE
After completing this course, students will:
- have deepened their knowledge of the relations between literary texts and visual culture;
- be familiar with the theoretical frameworks that feed into the specific topic of this course;
- be able to apply one of more of these frameworks in the analysis of a specific case study;
- report on their findings both orally and in writing.COURSE CONTENT
This course is part of the third-year specialization "English Literature in a Visual Culture" in the BA programme Literature and Society: English. In this course, you will focus on an aspect of the relations between literature and visual culture, approaching this issue from the theoretical perspective of word/image studies, visual culture, or narratology.TEACHING METHODS
6 hours seminar per week. Attendance in the course seminars is compulsory. If you are absent at more than 20% of the seminars, you cannot pass the course. Exceptions may be made in grave personal circumstances. Make sure to inform both your lecturer and the student advisor in such cases.TYPE OF ASSESSMENT
Class participation (10%); written assignments (90%).
