  • Overview

    COURSE OBJECTIVE
The student learns how to translate their econometric, data science and numerical skills in solving real-life econometric and data problems, and in developing practical solutions, by working together within a team. Given the limited number of weeks available for the work on this project, students also learn how to work efficiently, in an organised way and under time-pressure.

    COURSE CONTENT
This course is a mix of lectures and a Case Study. A group of 3-4 students are working together on a practical case that is introduced and discussed by the teacher in a series of lectures. Also the econometric methods are introduced by the teacher. The actual topic (or subject) of the practical case and the actual data needs to be collected by the students. The group of students need to carry out the work in period 6 which consists of four weeks. Also supporting lectures are scheduled for technical questions and general support. In the last week the findings and the deliverables need to be presented by means of a public presentation and a written report.

    TEACHING METHODS
A mix of lectures and case study work: students need work in groups but also independently. The lectures takes place throughout the period, but in the first week there are one or two opening lectures and a meeting with the teacher. In the last week, the public presentation of the report and the delivery of the report take place.

    TYPE OF ASSESSMENT
Presentation of report and written report; there is no exam. Teacher and co-reader will attend presentation, read the reports and make a joint decision on the grade.
