2.    COURSE DESCRIPTION

The course focuses on the knowledge required for the foreign trade management, as well as the correct application of the technical rules that govern it. At the end of the course the student should be able to understand and apply the Colombian customs framework and the legal and tax laws that regulate trade relations. In addition, student must develop the ability to adapt to the frequent changes that occur in the customs and the exchange legislation.

3.    JUSTIFICACION 

The constant evolution of nations generates the necessity to implement a legal apparatus that allows the executive branch to adapt and adjust the regulation in response to relevant economics and geopolitical changes that might affect the nation’s interests. In this context, customs rules, is an important branch of norms applicable to international trade operations that must be studied by International business students.
 
Indeed, in most countries who respects the rule of law, a significant part of the negotiations of international buys and sales, especially those regarding the exchange of merchandise must comply with the custom regulation. In Colombia, such as in many other countries this norm provides a series of conditions, rights and obligations to parties aiming to participate in the different operations of international trade. 

Understanding the channels aloud by the state, as well as the obligations and conditions to undertake these operations vital for international business professionals. The ability to handle applying the customs regulation will allow students to perform effectively international trade operations and will provided them with legal instrument to defend their rights and those of their clients.  

5.    GENERAL OBJECTIVE OF THE COURSE

This course will be oriented to:

Provide the student with the knowledge required for the handling foreign trade operations, At the end of the course, the student must be able to understand and apply the Colombian customs framework and the legal and fiscal regulations that apply to commercial operations. In addition, the student must develop the capacity to adapt to the frequent changes that occur in customs regulation, and to discern the fiscal consequences that derive from its foreign trade operations.

1. METHODOLOGICAL OPTIONS – LEARNING ACTIVITIES

This course will incorporate a series of he lectures, accompanied by the presentation of cases, examples, complemented with the multimedia material. The latter in the aim of obtaining a better understanding of the subject.

The study material that has been delivered in advance will be analyzed and reviewed in class through activities that will be essentially aimed at measuring the ability to analyze and understand the study material.
