MEDICAL SPANISH 3-credits
LEARNING OUTCOME / OBJECTIVE
Upon successful completion of the course, participants will be able to:- Recognize the grammatical elements of Spanish in order to express technical language in the medical field.
- Relate medical terminology in Spanish to health care in a precise manner.
- Use terms of technical medical language in Spanish to maintain an effective and affective conversation while respecting cultural diversity.CONTENTS
MODULE 1: Basic notions of Spanish grammar
- The verb (Modes and tenses)
- General rules of accentuation
- Invariable categories
- Common expressions of Spanish in Peru
MODULE 2: Medical Spanish in clinical environments
- Skills for interviewing adult, pediatric, and pregnant patients
- Technical vocabulary of medicine
- Terms in epidemiology and public health
MODULE 3: Practice
- Interview with a simulated patient in a laboratoryTEACHING STRATEGIES
The following learning methodologies will be used for this course:Master Classes
The sessions will be in person and will be taught by a teacher who is a specialist in the subject. The teacher will be guided by an expository method with audiovisual aids. Practical activities will also be carried out to promote collaborative learning.Simulation classroom sessions
The simulation sessions of patient care will be carried out in a real office with simulated patients. This is so that students can put into practice the Spanish learned in the different sessions.EVALUATION
The evaluation in this course will be summative, since it will allow us to identify the degree of achievement of the course objectives, and formative, since it allows us to monitor and support learning throughout the process.Attendance at the course is mandatory. If you have unjustified attendance for more than 20% of the course hours, you will be failed due to non-attendance.
