Overview
The course of Polar Politics aims to provide a comprehensive introduction to the political landscapes of the Arctic and Antarctic, and their particularities. To that end, the course is divided into four sections. It begins with an introduction to the analytical and theoretical tools necessary for analysing these unique regions, including aspects of international governance, geopolitical thought, epistemic communities, among others. A second section focuses on the Arctic, exploring its historical, political, legal, economic, and strategic dimensions. Subsequently, the course examines the Antarctic, also following historical, political, legal, economic, and strategic considerations. Finally, the course presents a comparative analysis, highlighting the commonalities and differences, as well as the different roles of these distant, yet crucial areas
