    Curso dedicado al estudio del Horizonte Tardío (1,450 ? 1,532 d.C.) en los Andes Centrales. Análisis del fenómeno Inca desde la perspectiva del orden imperial y de las sociedades conquistadas. Se analizan los antecedentes del surgimiento del imperio en la sierra sur. Se hace una exposición pormenorizada del proceso de evolución cultural del Estado Inca, desde la consolidación del poder centralizado y las primeras expansiones, hasta la anexión de los territorios en Chile y Ecuador, la guerra interna y la llegada de los españoles. Se revisan estrategias de control imperial, sistemas de comunicaciones, arquitectura y urbanismo. Se estudia también la diversidad de modelos de organización sociopolítica de las sociedades conquistadas, y los distintos niveles de impacto que tuvo sobre ellas el orden imperial. El curso se nutre tanto de evidencia arqueológica como de información ofrecida por crónicas y otros documentos coloniales
