    Curso que combina clases teóricas y sesiones de laboratorio, dedicados al estudio arqueológico de recipientes de cerámica. El curso incide inicialmente en un análisis de la materia prima que compone la cerámica (arcilla, agua e inclusiones), resaltando sus características y propiedades. Luego se pasa a un estudio detallado del proceso de producción de vasijas partiendo de información etnológica. A continuación se abordan los principales métodos especializados que se emplean para determinar la composición, uso y función de recipientes, así como las aproximaciones más comunes para la definición de tipos y su ordenamiento cronológico. Finalmente, se abordan temas relacionados con la ceramología social, es decir, los distintos tipos de información cultural que ofrece el estudio de colecciones arqueológicas de cerámica considerando sus contextos de producción, uso y descarte.
