Overview
Curso dedicado al estudio del Horizonte Temprano (1,200 a.C. ? 200 d.C.) en los Andes Centrales. Se analizan criterios de definición del período y se contrastan distintas sugerencias de periodificación. Se revisan distintas manifestaciones regionales a través de un estudio de iconografía, cerámica, metalurgia y arquitectura monumental. Se revisan teorías acerca de estrategias de poder de élites, origen del estado y esferas de interacción macro-regional. Se re-evalúa el concepto del fenómeno Chavín y se contextualizan los desarrollos del Formativo peruano dentro del ámbito sudamericano.
