El curso pretende acercar al estudiante al conocimiento elemental de la realidad social peruana, ubicando sus principales problemas y conflictos, y aclarando las interrogantes sobre el presente en relación a los procesos sociales más significativos. Sin aspirar a hacer un análisis especializado de cada tema, busca presentar los principales problemas económicos, sociales y políticos, ofreciendo una perspectiva de análisis del conjunto de la realidad.
