  • Valencia

    October 30th, 2024

Over Monday, October 28th and Tuesday, October 29th, heavy rains in the Valencia region triggered deadly flooding in eastern coastal areas of Spain. Local authorities and members of Spain's military have been activated to support relief efforts. In the city of Valenica, local public transportation services have been temporarily suspended, while plane and train travel may continue to see disruptions over the coming days.

ISA resident staff in Valencia have been in contact with students and advised them to remain at home today, October 30th. Classes at the Universitat Politècnica de Valencia (UPV) and Universidad Católica de Valencia (UCV) have been cancelled until Monday, November 4th. Classes at ISA's FSU-Valencia Study Center plan to reopen later in the week. Students have been advised to follow directives of local authorities and local news for updates. ISA will continue to monitor the impacts of flooding in the Valencia region of Spain and advise students, as necessary.

  • Seoul

    July 1st, 2024

At approximately 9:30 p.m. on Monday, July 1st, a fatal vehicular incident occurred when a car drove into a group of pedestrians waiting at an intersection near Seoul's city hall. The driver of the vehicle was quickly detained by police. Authorities are continuing their investigation into the cause of the incident, but it does not immediately appear to be terror-related.

At this time, there is no indication that any TEAN students were present at the time of the incident. The TEAN Seoul resident staff have reached out to all students, asked them to check in, and to avoid the area. TEAN will continue to monitor the incident and will continue to advise students, as necessary.
