James Cook University (JCU), Townsville, one of the world's leading tropical research institutions, is home to a top-notch faculty, who take full advantage of their natural laboratory. Students have the opportunity to take what they learn in the classroom and put it to work in fantastically diverse ecosystems, right at their doorstep. All courses are taught by JCU faculty, and ISA participants take classes alongside Australian and other international students.
Semester + Semester Programs Available: Students may participate in the Spring + Fall OR the Fall + Spring sessions of this program by selecting their two semesters of interest when submitting the initial ISA online application. Note: About pricing...
Housing is not included in the price above. Housing at James Cook University - Townsville ranges from $4,600 - $6,100 (subject to change). Where available, a full meal plan is included in housing costs. A $500 refundable security deposit will be charged to students living in ISA arranged housing. ISA may retain some, or all, of this deposit in case of damage to property, or if utility usage exceeds the allotted monthly amount.
Students who select the Semester + Semester option for this program will receive a $1,500 discount. ISA support services, housing and insurance are not included during the interim period between sessions but may be added for an additional charge.
The following scholarship is offered for ISA participants:James Cook University Sponsored Scholarship - James Cook University supports ISA students with four $500 AUD awards awards per year. The award is credited to the student's overall program balance with ISA.
Students must have a minimum grade point average of 2.50.
Minimum Admissions Prerequisites
There is no language prerequisite for this program.
Students must have at least sophomore standing (second year) at their home university and be currently enrolled in a four-year university at the time of participation.
Students must also include an academic letter of recommendation and letter of intent along with their standard ISA application if their GPA falls below the minimum requirement.
