Academic Information
The summer program at the Universidad Latina - Heredia is designed for students at the intermediate and advanced language levels. It is ideal for students who need to complete a full 90 hours of Spanish language instruction during the first 5-weeks of the session in order to earn six credit hours or nine quarter units of Spanish. The classroom environment is made up of ISA and international students. Students are placed into a language level according to the number of semesters/quarters of college-level Spanish they have previously taken.

Service-Learning Information

During the final four weeks of the program, students will work 15-35 hours per week at a host organization, increasing language proficiency and gaining valuable international experience. Placements are arranged prior to arrival in the host country and language requirements may vary. Visit the ISA Service-Learning website for more information on placement opportunities.

Service-Learning placements are coordinated by ISA and have no affiliation with the university. Students will complete a Service-Learning Portfolio throughout the program, which consists of reflective assignments, group discussions, and logs of hours.

Students can earn 3 credits by completing a minimum of 90 hours at a host organization and through successful completion of the Service-Learning Portfolio. Visit the Academic Credit page of the ISA Service-Learning website for more information.
