Semester / Trimester

Spanish Language, Liberal Arts & Environmental Studies

Universidad Veritas

Fall 1A 2018 (Sep 2, 2018 to Dec 22, 2018)
Catalog Code: ISJF1218

The Spanish Language, Liberal Arts & Environmental Studies program is designed for students at all levels of Spanish proficiency. All courses are taught at Universidad Veritas by local university professors. ISA students study alongside other international students.

What is the difference between the A and B programs?

  • The A program includes an intensive month Spanish program. Fall students who choose this option will enroll in one 80 contact hour Spanish course for the first month of their program, after which they can take the same courses offered as the B program.
  • The B program does not include the intensive month Spanish program at the beginning of the program, but students may take the same 80 contact hour Spanish courses during the semester.
Program Highlights:
  • Urban style campus near the ISA San José office.
  • Students can take back-to-back intensive month Spanish courses.
  • Many English courses available.
Gap Year students are also eligible for this program. For more information, click here.

The A program is ideal for students who would like to improve their proficiency in the Spanish language in a short period of time. Students will be in the classroom for a total of 80 hours. This program is ideal for students who want to add a month to the beginning of ISA's trimester to prepare for the program or simply to extend the program by one month. The A program allows students to complete up to four courses of college level Spanish (compared to three with the B program). Both programs offer additional electives in various fields during one 12-week session in Costa Rica. Several of the electives offered are taught in Spanish (for advanced level Spanish speakers) and others are taught in English. Students in the Fall 1A program are entitled to enroll in a total of five courses (combination of electives and four-week language courses). A placement exam is required to determine language level.

Trimester + Trimester Programs Available: Students may participate in the Winter/Spring + Fall OR the Fall + Winter/Spring sessions of this program by selecting their two trimesters of interest when submitting the initial ISA online application.
