This 12-week program is for students who would like to improve their proficiency in the Spanish language in a short period of time by completing a 4-week intensive Spanish language month before beginning an 8-week service-learning placement. Students may add a San Jose Intensive Month to a Semester/Year program in Costa Rica for a discounted price.
Placements are coordinated by ISA and have no affiliation with the university. Students will develop a Portfolio throughout the program, documenting their projects, hours and program activities. Students can earn 1-6 credits based on the number of contact hours accrued at the host organization and successful completion of the Portfolio. Visit the ELAP website for more information.
Please note that the program price does not include airport pick-up, drop-off, or excursions.
Gap Year students are also eligible for this program.

Students must have a minimum grade point average of 2.50.
Minimum Admissions Prerequisites
All students must take a Spanish language placement exam prior to departure. The exam will indicate each student's language proficiency level and determine the courses in which the student is eligible to enroll.
ISA Service-Learning placement eligibility is determined by a resume, cover letter and Spanish language interview upon application. Placements are filled on a first-come, first-serve basis and participants are encouraged to apply 3-5 months before the application deadline.
