This 12-week program is for students who would like to improve their proficiency in the Spanish language in a short period of time by completing a 4-week intensive Spanish language month before beginning an 8-week service-learning program. Visit the ISA Service-Learning website to view available placements.
Students may add a San Jose Intensive Month to a Semester/Year program in Costa Rica for a discounted price.
Placements are coordinated by ISA and have no affiliation with the university. Students will complete a Service-Learning Portfolio throughout the program, which consists of reflective assignments, group discussions, and logs of hours. Students can earn 6 credits by completing a minimum of 180 hours at a host organization and through successful completion of the Service-Learning Portfolio. Please note that the program price does not include airport pick-up, drop-off, or excursions.
Gap Year students are also eligible for this program.

Students must have a minimum grade point average of 2.50.
Minimum Admissions Prerequisites
All students must take a Spanish language placement exam prior to departure. The exam will indicate each student's language proficiency level and determine the courses in which the student is eligible to enroll.
ISA Service-Learning placement eligibility is determined by a resume, cover letter and Spanish language interview upon application. Placements are filled on a first-come, first-serve basis and participants are encouraged to apply 3-5 months before the application deadline.
