University of Reading

Founded in 1892, the University of Reading (UR) is one of the top 20 research-intensive universities in the United Kingdom. The University of Reading is recognized by the Privy Council of the United Kingdom and the Ministry of State for Universities, Science and Cities. The university is also one of the few global business schools to hold triple accredited status (AMBA, EQUIS, AACSB). For its outstanding achievement in overseas matters, the UR was the first university to win the Queen's Award for Export Achievement in 1989. The University was also awarded the Queen's Anniversary Prize for Higher and Further Education in 1998. There is an enrollment of approximately 7,800 full-time undergraduate students and over 5,000 postgraduates with about 20% of the total student body classified as international.

The modern Whiteknights Campus of the University of Reading is the academic anchor of ISA's England program, and is set over 300 acres of landscaped parkland which was once a medieval manorial estate. The UR is committed to preserving the environment, therefore their Whiteknights campus is surrounded by a lake, conservation meadows and woodlands. ISA participants live in the arranged dorm housing on campus with British and international students.

ISA students have full access to all facilities on campus including the main library which is centrally located making it easy for students to access materials and computer labs between classes. Students are also encouraged to make use of the Reading University Students' Union (RUSU), a hub for social activities that is centrally located on campus. Over 100 clubs and societies provide opportunities for ISA participants to meet students from England and from all over the world. Students are sure to find an activity of interest in areas such as sports, recreation, culture, politics, and education. Students may utilize numerous sports facilities on and off campus.

In addition, the university was ranked 194th worldwide in the 2014 Times Higher Education World University Rankings and 156 in the most recent QS World Rankings. In 2001, 15 departments were awarded a Research Assessment Exercise (RAE) rating of 5. The Archaeology, English, Italian, Meteorology and Psychology departments received 5-star ratings for their excellence.
