Academic Information
The ISA programs at National University of Ireland, Galway (NUI Galway) offer students a wide variety of courses in many fields of study, including the Liberal Arts, Business and Irish Studies. While students in this program take a majority of their courses from the College of Arts, Social Science and Celtic Studies, or from the College of Business, Public Policy and Law, they may also select 1 course from the Sciences, Technology, Engineering & Mathematics (STEM) program at no additional charge.

Courses are taught by NUI, Galway faculty and ISA students enroll directly with local and international students.

Students are required to take 20-30 ECTS credits per semester. NUI Galway recommends that 5 ECTS credits be considered equivalent to 2.5 or 3 US semester credits (3.75 or 4.5 quarter units). Students are strongly encouraged to consult with their home university regarding the transfer of ECTS credits.

Please note that a $750 housing deposit is required for this program, and is due by the Final Forms and Payment Deadline.

Service-Learning Information
In addition to their academic courses, students will have the opportunity to spend 5-10 hours per week at a host organization, gaining valuable international experience. Placements are arranged prior to arrival in the host country and language requirements vary. Visit the ISA Service-Learning website for more information on placement opportunities.

Service-Learning placements are coordinated by ISA and have no affiliation with the university. Students
will develop a Portfolio throughout the program, documenting their projects, hours, and program activities.

Students can earn 1-6 credits based on the number of contact hours accrued at the host organization and successful completion of the Portfolio. Visit the Academic Credit page of the ISA Service-Learning website for more information.
