This program is designed for students with beginning, intermediate or advanced Spanish proficiency that are interested in participating in a service-learning program in addition to their academic semester.

Academic Information

The Business and Latin American Studies program offers courses taught in Spanish with locals, focusing in the fields of Business and Economics. Students may also choose to take courses taught in English as well as Spanish language courses at the intermediate, high interemdiate and advanced language level. This program is ideal for a student with an Advanced level of Spanish looking to take Business courses, as the Universidad del Pacífico is AACSB accredited. All classes are taken at the Universidad del Pacífico with Peruvian and international students.

Service-Learning Information

In addition to their academic courses, students will have the opportunity to spend 5-10 hours per week at a host organization, increasing their language proficiency and gaining valuable international experience. Language proficiency for the placement will be determined by a phone interview before acceptance to the program. Placements are arranged prior to arrival in the host country and language requirements vary. Visit the ISA Service-Learning website for more information on placement opportunities.

Placements are coordinated by ISA and have no affiliation with the university. Students will develop a Portfolio throughout the program, documenting their projects, hours and program activities. Participants can earn 1-6 credits based on the number of contact hours accrued at the host organization and successful completion of the Portfolio. Students must have a minimum grade point average of 2.50.
